Because much of the water directly off of Cabo San Lucas is protected from the west ocean swells, sailing and yachting in and around Cabo is usually a pleasant experience. Blue water sailors headed for the Mexican mainland, Hawaii or the South Pacific often stop in Cabo for provisions before heading out to sea. Over 1000 yachts stop by Cabo each year.
Cabo San Lucas offers two marinas. The MARINA CABO SAN LUCAS is an excellent facility, offering 320 good moorings, and Marinas de Baja (the folks that own Marina Palmira Yacht Club in La Paz) also provides good service and a fuel dock. The town itself offers pretty much whatever may be needed to get you to the next major port.

Cruising down from the west coast of the United States to Cabo San Lucas is usually an enjoyable trip. Following seas make for a relativiely smooth ride while heading south, but bringing her back north again is a different story.
