Cabo San Lucas is the end of the road for Baja travelers
who have traveled the length of the peninsula (literally). Unlike San Jose Del Cabo
just up the coast where camping facilities are somewhat scarce, Cabo San Lucas does
offer a few options for setting up the tent or parking
the R.V. Only a couple of these facilities are right in town, but most
of them are pretty close.
Camping on the beach is also an option, and the coast north of Cabo towards TODOS SANTOS
offers dozens of miles of undeveloped beaches for those who don't mind roughing it. Most of these
camping beaches are accessible by taking the dirt spur roads off of Baja Highway 19, to the west.
Some of these beach access roads can be a bit sandy, so it's best to find your beach before
it gets too dark.
If you are looking for a slower-paced camping experience, you might want to consider the East Cape section of Baja,
which starts just east of SAN JOSE DEL CABO. Although fewer services are available up the East Cape road, the beautiful and remote settings make it a worthly trade-off.
For more information on this 'secret' part of Cabo drop by our EAST CAPE section.
And for more information on camping north of Cabo check out our TODOS SANTOS section.
If you want to rent an R.V. to explore Baja there are two R.V. rental companies that allow their coaches to be driven into the Peninsula. CRUISE AMERICA R.V. and EL MONTE R.V. each offer a good selection of vehicles for your Baja adventure!
If you are taking an R.V. to Cabo you are assured of an amazing adventure! As of 2010 the road down the Baja Peninsula is in excellent condition, and the raw beauty of nature will await you at almost every turn. However, be advised that unlike most highways in the United States, Baja Highway One has narrow or nonexistant shoulders leaving a small margin for driver error. Add to that a population of cows that like to hang out on the asphalt (especially at night!) and you have a driving situation that requires complete attention. Safety is no accident!
