Master Card and Visa accepted.- Some of the best places to plop down for beach shopping is the popular area near The Office and Billigan's Island, located between the Hacienda Hotel at the west end and the Melia San Lucas at the east end.
- If you are really interested in buying something, grab a table and chairs right up front, closest to the Sea of Cortez. These vendors are forbidden to walk around through the table areas unless they are called in. So you will have the largest selection of goods to choose from if you are in the front row of tables.
- Being reasonable with your price expectations is always appreciated. Yes, negotiating is acceptable, but offering a price that is extremely low will not win you any friends. A general rule of thumb is to start negotiating by offering a price one forth of the asking price. If you eventually compromise on a price somewhere in the middle then both parties have done well.
- You will usually be able to negotiate a better price if you purchase more than one item from any given vendor. But don't pull that ace out of your sleeve until the negotiations on the first item are almost finished!
- Having smaller currency available usually helps your cause in negotiating, and makes the transaction run smooth on both ends. Dollars and pesos are readily accepted, credit cards are not. No tax will be charged. Providing a tip to a vendor that has been very helpful is always appreciated!
- If you see a vendor coming your way with items that you know you are not interested in, your plan is easy. Avoid direct eye contact as they approach you. And when they ask if you are interested just say "no thank you" or "no gracias". They will move on fairly quickly.
- Whether or not you ultimately buy is not that important. But it sure helps if you genuinely thank them for their time if you take a look at their inventory.

CABO SAN LUCAS SHOPPING
Cabo San Lucas will definitely give the 'shop till you drop' crowd a run for their money! Most of the popular shopping stores are located on the main streets running through town. Other shops are available in the malls on the north side of the Cabo marina.
Looking for a quaint little store near the marina to grab supplies for a day of fishing or hanging out on the beach? Try THE EARLY BIRD, located on the east side of the marina just past the Marina Fiesta Hotel right on the point. Beer, water, munchies, box lunches for fishing trips and if you are in luck they will have their world famous tamales. These folks run a good family store and they provide excellent service.
PUERTO PARAISO, a huge mall at the east end of the marina, offers theaters, restaurants, bowling alleys and much more. It is conveniently located within walking distance to all of downtown Cabo, as well as the hotels at the marina and on the beach.

For those vacation achievers who spent all of their time having too much fun playing, and forgot to go shopping, there are several shops at the Los Cabos Airport offering gifts, post cards, T-shirts, etc. This is a great way to kill time while you're waiting to get on the plane for home, and the perfect place to unload all of those pesky pesos you may have collected during your stay!
DOWNTOWN CABO SAN LUCAS
Downtown Cabo San Lucas offers the most diverse shopping on the Cape! Almost any item you need can be found while walking the streets of Cabo San Lucas. And, unlike shopping in some of the indoor malls in Cabo, shopping the various downtown streets allows you to enjoy the exceptional weather that Cabo usually offers!
Another advantage of shopping the various stores located throughout downtown Cabo is that you are able to obtain a greater appreciation for the flavor of town, the way it is laid out, and the general activity of the locals and tourists. Shopping in an enclosed mall shelters you from all this. Not that there aren't times when mall shopping has advantages. If you are shopping in Cabo on a hot August day with a moist tropical storm offshore, the controlled environment of an enclosed mall definitely has some advantages.
A word of caution. Cabo's streets, curbs, and sidewalks have evolved over a period of many years. Keeping an eye open for uneven walkways, traffic and various street side obstacles can make your shopping experience a safe one! Wearing a pair of good walking shoes is a good idea.
Most downtown Cabo shops now accept credit cards. All will accept dollars and pesos. As far as negotiating prices is concerned, a good rule of thumb is that the nicer the shopping establishment, the less likely they are to want to haggle prices with you. But if you find an item you really like that you have seen priced lower elsewhere in town, it never hurts to try!
For a small collection of shops downtown stop by MERCADO MEXICANO on Calle Hidalgo at Obregon. They sell baskets, rugs, blankets, handicrafts and leather of all types. Some price negotiating is expected.
Hot tip! As you walk through town on your shopping experience the chances are quite good that you will be approached at least once to buy into a timeshare property. Take some advice from an old pro... keep walking, smile, and say "no thank you". Your vacation time is too precious to spend in a 2 hour "free breakfast" presentation. If you are sincerely interested in owning a block of time in paradise make another trip down in the future, to check out all of your vacation ownership options!
CABO'S PLAZAS
A great alternative to walking the streets of Cabo to go shopping is to head for the various plazas. There are several shopping plazas located in the downtown area, all within walking distance of each other, and all of them just steps away from Marina Boulevard.
Just like the malls back home, don't expect as many bargains in the plazas as the smaller shops in town. Most of the shops in the plazas accept credit cards, cash and pesos. Your excellent negotiating skills will get better use outside the plazas at the street side shops!

Plaza Aramburo is located just across the street (west) from El Squid Roe Restaurant. It is the furthest shopping plaza from the Marina, yet not more than a 5 minute walk away. What better way to shop than with your feet in the sand and a cold drink in your hand? This is the ultimate way to shop! Playa Medano, Cabo's most popular beach made famous for clean white sand, azure seas, restaurants, bars and watersports has one more trick up her sleeve... shopping!
That's right, pull up a chair on your favorite stretch of sand, order up a cold one and maybe something to munch on, and get ready. It might take a few minutes for the vendors to get your scent, but once they do you are on the path to easy and fun shopping!
What kind of wears can you expect? You'd be surprised at the kind of things these hard working people haul up and down the beach trying to sell. Hats, blankets, shirts, jewelry, hand-carved woodwork, ceramics, glass items...the list goes on and on. You want your name printed on a grain of rice? No problema!
Unlike some of the nicer shops in town where it is not generally accepted to negotiate, bantering back and forth on price is expected here at the beach (and it's half the fun)!

LOS CABOS AIRPORT
Okay, this section is for the guys. Women can read it to...but they already know this hot tip. Shopping at the airport is a great way to kill time.
Remember when you were told by the airline people that you had to check in two hours before the flight? Well, forget it. If you do check in two hours early you will probably be the only one at the counter. But checking in an hour or so before the flight departs is indeed a good idea. But what do you do for an hour after you are checked in?
We all have mixed feelings about shopping at the airport, but ultimately it is a good thing. Yes, the prices are higher here than in town, but not that much higher. And shopping while you are waiting for your plane makes a heck of a lot more sense than checking your voice mail back at home. After all you are still on vacation, and those greenbacks in your pocket will be more fun to spend here that for a Starbucks coffee when you get home. So get out there and shop!
A word of wisdom here. If you are the kind of person who really gets into your shopping, tell your travel partner what you are doing. It's pretty easy to miss the flight announcements when you are tucked into one of the airport shops. Not that you couldn't make the best of another 24 hours in paradise!!!
FOOD SHOPPING IN CABO SAN LUCAS
Although half the fun of going to Cabo is trying out the various dining options around town, more visitors are buying and renting condos and homes, and enjoying their meals at home.
Prices in Cabo markets are not much different than in many cities in the Untied States, and the selection is excellent.
If you just need beer, sodas, ice or light snacks there are a variety of smaller markets located throughout town that will give you that "easy-in ~ easy out" you need to get back to your vacation plan!
